2020 Census Workshop at DCRC

What You Need to Know About the 2020 Census

In mid-March, homes across the country will begin receiving invitations to complete the 2020 Census. Once the invitation arrives, you should respond for your home in one of three ways: online, by phone, or by mail. When you respond to the census, you’ll tell the Census Bureau where you live as of April 1, 2020.

Census takers will also begin visiting college students who live on campus, people living in senior centers, and others who live among large groups of people. For example, residential treatment centers, skilled nursing facilities, group homes, etc.  For a full list, click here.

Day of Action: #KeepthePromise Phone Bank

The Senate Budget subcommittee responsible for the money our system gets had its last hearing on our issues. In a surprise turn of events, they not only approved Governor Newsom’s short-term limited funding increase, they…

Voted YES on a (minimum) eight percent increase for all providers.
Voted YES on making the increase permanent.
Voted YES on ending the Uniform Furlough Schedule.
Voted YES on restore social recreation and camp services.
Voted YES on a developing and implementing a rate reform plan.

But now, we need to ask the Assembly, and the rest of the Senate, to support these bold proposals. If you want these changes to happen, you need to call your legislators today and say “support the Senate proposal for developmental disabilities funding!”

These calls will only take you a few minutes to make, but they will help solve a problem that’s years old. This success happened because advocates like you have been pushing legislators to support our system.

ATTENTION ALL SERVICE PROVIDERS: THIS IMPACTS EVERYONE!

The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) has released the Proposed Rate Models!  It is imperative that you review this proposed rate structure as it has serious implications  to how providers do business and what reimbursement rate will be assigned.

The WRC Rate Model can be viewed here. Our community has until April 5, 2019 to provide comments.  We need your input!

WRC will host 2 sessions on Tuesday, March 26th to gather information to send to DDS and the Legislature.  Sessions will be held from 9:30am-11:30am and 12:30pm -2:30pm in our Danneker Boardroom at WRC.   A third session will be held at Empowertech located at 9100 S Sepulveda Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90045, on March 27th from 5:00pm-7:00pm.  Please plan to attend at least one but you are welcome to all.

You should additionally provide your input by completing this survey.  Please answer the questions that are relevant to the services you provide.  You are able to skip to questions in the survey that apply to your organization. ALL feedback is valuable and needed.

All comments and input must be received by Monday, April 1st to be submitted by WRC to DDS.

Please get the word out to every service provider that you know.  This is your last chance to provide input regarding this new rate structure.

Attention Service Providers!! Make Your Voice Heard About Rates: Surveys Available Now

Post Date: January 03, 2019

From the Los Angeles and San Diego Coalitions of Service Providers

To the Executive Leadership of all organizations providing services funded through regional centers,

As you all know, we are rapidly approaching the critical moment in Sacramento when the Department of Developmental Services will deliver to the Legislature its study on our current rates system as well as its proposals to bring sustainability to our system through increases in rates of reimbursements paid to providers.

We are working hard to prepare for this moment by meeting ahead of time with members of the Legislature and key Legislative staff.  We must make sure that the Legislature understands how long overdue rate reform is in California.  We must make sure the Legislature knows how much our system has been strained over the past two decades as a result of frozen rates and the imposition of arbitrary Statewide median rates for critically needed services.

We need everyone’s help to tell this story with the urgency necessary to justify the significant new funding that we expect the report to call for when it is delivered in March.

We are asking you to participate by responding to the two very brief online surveys whose links are included in this notice.

The first is the Provider Impact Survey initially distributed last March. We would like to get a much broader response to fully represent our State.  If you did not take this survey last March, please take the few minutes necessary to do so now. This can be completed by the CEO or her/his designee.

Here is that link:   https://surveyhero.com/c/e9650710

The Second Survey was created by the Arc/UCP to report on the status of our Direct Service Provider (DSP) workforce in California.  For this survey – please distribute this survey to your DSP workforce and ask for their participation in advocating for higher wages for our highly valued DSP workforce by filling out the survey.

Here is that link:

Online Survey (Español) https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DSPespanol

WE NEED YOUR IMMEDIATE ACTION.  We would like to have as many responses as possible to these two surveys by January 7, 2019.  Please try for this date – but if you can’t get it done by then – please respond as soon thereafter as possible.

Thank you!
