The Westside Family Resource & Empowerment Center (WFREC) provides the following assistance for individuals with special needs and their families: parent-to-parent support; support groups; IEP support; workshops and trainings; resources and referrals; and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) supplies such as face masks, face shields and hand sanitizer. Los Angeles County COVID-19 Rent Relief
The LA County COVID-19 Rent Relief application will open on August 17, 2020 until Monday, August 31, 2020. Eligible renters must qualify based on income and have struggled to pay rent, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. You can submit your application online at 211la.org/lacounty/rentrelief. If you do not have a computer, you can call 2-1-1 and a representative can complete an online application on your behalf. The hotline will be available from 8:00AM – 8:00PM every day during the application period and there will be representatives to assist you in various languages.

Essential Protective Gear Distribution

The Personal Assistance Services Council will be distributing Essential Protective Gear (EPG) for IHSS Providers and Consumers for FREE on a first-come, first-served basis. Distribution will take place in the parking lot. It’ll be drive-up format and participants must remain in their cars.

Aging with an Intellectual/Developmental Disability Training
On August 20 from 6:30 – 8:00pm, WISE and Healthy Aging invites you to join them for a training geared towards family members and caregivers of aging adults with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities. Family members and caregivers are invited to attend an educational seminar on Dementia & Alzheimer’s Disease as it relates to individuals with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (I/DD). The transition from adulthood to aging with a disability presents many challenges and questions related to diagnosis, long-term care planning and medical issues.
