Dr. Sofia M. Vergara is the new Board Chair at WRC. She earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership for Social Justice from Loyola Marymount University (LMU), as well as her Masters there in Secondary Education. Since 2017, she has been teaching university classes on Disability and Multiculturalism in Special Education at LMU. For the past 14 years, she has also taught Spanish at New Roads High School in Santa Monica. She earlier graduated from UC Berkeley with a major in Political Science and double-minors in Spanish and Disability Studies. More recently, she along with a colleague have launched a new nonprofit, Bridges to Inclusion, to provide services to Empower Educators, Families and Students with Disabilities. A Life-Long Learner, Dedicated Educator, and Motivated and Inspiring Advocate, she was Unanimously Elected as the first Client to Lead in the history of WRC. Congratulations Dr. Vergara!
