Welcome to Westside! Jane Borochoff is our new Executive Director

On behalf of David Wyles, WRC President:

Dear Westside Community of Staff, Self-Advocates, Vendors, and Families:

It is with great pleasure that I announce the hiring of a new Executive Director for WRC, Jane Borochoff. Ms. Borochoff has spent the past 15 years as the Executive Director of The H.E.A.R.T. Program, a non-profit in Houston, Texas, which assists individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. Jane will bring her experience and passion to our community and lead us as we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic. Jane will be starting on January 31st, and WRC will hold several town halls so that our community can get acquainted with our new Executive Director.

I would like to thank Mary Lou Weise-Stusser for her excellent stewardship during these past few months while we have undertaken a nation-wide search for our new leader. Mary Lou will continue in her vital and valued role as Director of Community Services.

As we move forward, please join the Board of Directors in supporting and welcoming Jane Borochoff to Westside Regional Center as the new WRC Executive Director.

Thank you.

J. David Wyles
WRC Board President

Vista Ballona Affordable Housing Lottery, Wednesday 10/27/21 at 6pm

Did you or someone you support apply for the WRC Vista Ballona affordable housing lottery? If so, join us on Wednesday, October 27th at 6pm. All Vista Ballona housing applications have been collected and will be randomized and given a waitlist number. During this zoom meeting, WRC’s Interim Executive Director, and WRC Housing Manager will call off the Unique Client Identifier Numbers (UCI#) for the individuals that will be invited to formally apply for one of the 12 one-bedroom apartment units at Vista Ballona. The UCI is a 7-digit number that can be found on your Individual Program Plan (IPP) or requested through your service coordinator. Please note, that your number being called off does NOT guarantee an apartment. More numbers will be called than units available in case people at the top of the list do not get approved. If you are invited to apply formally and cannot make this lottery, you may contact your Service Coordinator on 10/28/21 to learn what number you have been assigned on the waitlist. Individuals who are invited to apply formally will receive the application via email or mail if no email address was provided.
Spanish Interpretation will be provided. This meeting will not be recorded but ALL qualified applicants will receive an email or phone call with their waitlist number, regardless of whether they will be moving on to formally apply at this time.

Closed for MLK holiday – Monday, January 18

The Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on January 18, 2021, marks the 26th annual day of service to celebrate the Civil Rights leader’s life. Observed each year on the third Monday in January, the MLK Day of Service is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service – “a day on, not a day off.”

Although our agency is closed today in observance of this federal holiday, we encourage everyone to use this day as an opportunity to perform individual acts of kindness through service to others. Find
